6 days Luxury Safari (Nyerere and Ruaha National Park)

Our full-day boat safari is quite a unique experience the Selous is one of the very few game reserves in Africa where you can view the game from the water and you have a much higher chance of seeing a larger variety of wildlife inside the Reserve than outside. Rufiji River is the largest in Tanzania, draining most of the southern part of the country and navigable for about 100 km. It is formed by the convergence of two rivers; Kilombero and Luwegu. Its main tributary is the Great Ruaha River. Rufiji River flows from southwest highlands to the eastern part of Tanzania entering the Indian Ocean, opposite Mafia Island. Rufiji River Delta is the natural drainage basin, containing the largest Mangrove forest in the world. It is located about 200 kilometers south of Dar-E-Salaam in the midway between Selous Game Reserve and Mafia Island Marine Park. ; the river acts as the main feature in the Selous Game Reserve, which gives an opportunity for the River Boat safari. The area is rich in marine life that offers a healthy habitation for a variety of fish and crustacean, which are supported by the deposition of mud and freshwater from the Rufiji River. Fish found here are yellowfin, dogtooth tuna Wahoo, kingfish, Dorado, five-fingered jack, and red cod.

The Rufiji River Delta is of the greatest importance for feeding and breeding sea turtles, small remnant populations of dugong, and for their vital role as nursery areas for marine animals (especially shrimps). The mangrove forest of the Rufiji Delta is an important site for migratory wetland birds, such as curlew sandpiper, little stint, crab plover, roseate tern, and Caspian tern. It is also a habitat for Nile crocodiles, hippopotamus, Sykes monkey, and otter.

After then you will go for Full day game drive for great animal sightings including all the great favorites’ lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, and all the other major species like hunting dogs and birds in the afternoon take your lunch and take some rest then proceed with the game drive during Evening for Dinner and Overnight

Pick up from your hotel in Nyerere National Park(Selous Game Reserve) in the morning after breakfast and fly to Ruaha National Park. Upon your arrival, you will be picked up by our safari guide who will drive you to your luxury lodge for lunch, and later after lunch, you will go for an evening game drive in Ruaha National Park.

Accommodation: Jabali Ridge.

After early breakfast you will start driving to Ruaha National park which is the largest park in Tanzania, Ruaha is home to about one-tenth of the world’s endangered lions some grouped in pride of 30 or more. The park has plenty of plants and animals that will leave you satisfied. The Ruaha National Park is also well known for its large population of elephants. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded here and make it a paradise to bird watchers. Most of the birds are residents such as Kingfishers, Hornbills, and Sunbirds but some are migrants from other continents such as Asia, Europe, and within Africa to the region for instance the White Stork. As much as the birds can be spotted all year round, the best season for bird watching is on the wet season.
Other animals that can easily be spotted in the park include both Greater and Lesser Kudu, lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, elands, zebras, impala, African wild dogs, Jackals, and bat-eared foxes. On the Miombo woodlands, you will easily spot the Sable and Roan antelopes. On arrival, you will start game drive later drive for dinner, and overnight.

This will be the last day at the park. After breakfast, check out, and our guide will transfer you to the airstrip to your flight back to Dar es salaam.
