All about the 4 Days Ruaha National Park.

Ruaha National Park is the 2nd largest national park in Tanzania. The addition of the Usangu Game Reserve and other important wetlands to the park in 2008 increased its size to about 20,226 square km, making it the 2nd largest park in Tanzania and East Africa.

The name of the park is derived from the Great Ruaha River, which flows along its southeastern margin and is the focus for game-viewing. Ruaha is situated in central Tanzania about 130km west of Iringa. The park can be reached by car, 12hrs (during dry season) from Dar es salaam, 5 hours from Mikumi National Park.

There are two airstrips – Msembe airstrip and Jongomeru Airstrip. Ruaha is home of Hippos, Crocodiles, Waterbucks, Buffalo, Leopard, Hyena, Wild dogs, Jackals, Lions, Antelope species such as Kudu, Impala, Sable antelope, Roan antelope, Grant gazelle, tiny Dik-dik along with Giraffe, Zebra, Warthogs, Mongoose, Porcupine, Wildcat, Civet and an astonishing 465 species of bird have been recorded in the park.

  1. Day 1 Dar es Salaam – Ruaha

    On this day you will be picked up from your home/ hotel and drive to Ruaha National park, you will drive a distance of 474 km which will take you around 6 to seven hours, upon your arrival you will enjoy your rest at your lodge, enjoying the views from the top of the hills and enjoying an awesome sunset during your evening, you will later have dinner and enjoy your night.

  2. Day 2 & 3 Full Ruaha National Park Game Drive

    We have two wonderful full days in the great Ruaha National park our guides will drive with you to locations where you can enjoy wild animals. Your game drives will start after breakfast, a full-day trip to Ruaha National park, The park formerly was known for its large elephant population, numbering 34,000 in the Ruaha- Rungwa ecosystem in 2009 but only 15,836 (plus or minus 4,759) in 2015.

    More than 571 species of birds have been identified in the park. Among the resident species are hornbills. Many migratory birds visit the park. Other noted animals found in this park are cheetah, African leopard, lion (Africa’s second-largest population, representing 10 percent of the world population), African wild dog (third-largest population in the world), spotted hyena, giraffe, hippopotamus, African buffalo, and sable antelope. You will go with packed lunch and enjoy your lunch inside the park while enjoying wild animals or at the picnic site and later after the game drive goes back to your hotel for rest and dinner.

  3. Day 4 Ruaha – Dar Es salaam

    After breakfast, you will start your drive back to Dar Es Salaam, where our driver will drop you at exactly where he picked you up from.
